This is lovely and my condolences. I remember when my mum died when I was a teenager, I got a strange amount of solace from watching Sleeping Dogs Lie, a dark comedy about something completely different which pivoted to the protagonist's mother dying who had the same favourite musician (Roy Orbison). It was uh not the most appropriate movie and my friend next to me was very apologetic when he realised the turn but I was always quite fond of it for the same reasons you mention in this.
